Your birthday is obviously something to celebrate (arguably the second most important day of the year, right after August 8th, National Pickleball Day).
The best way to do that is by throwing a pickleball-themed birthday party.
Don’t worry, it’s less daunting than it seems. If you plan on creating an intricate ladder, or if you invite all of your friends to a few courts, we’ll walk you through how to throw the ultimate pickleball themed birthday party (and show you examples of what we did ourselves).
let’s talk pickleball courts
Depending on where you live, getting courts might look different. If you’re by free open courts that don’t have a regulated open play time, use those to your advantage! However, not all of us are that lucky. Here are a few options of where you can play:
- Rent courts at your local pickleball center (and have a suggested venmo amount, renting courts isn’t cheap!)
- Set up your own courts and lines
- Use local pickleball courts that aren’t in use for open play
- Ask that one friend who has a private court (you know who you are)
organizing the pickleball games
There’s a couple of ways this can go. If you’re planning on inviting your squad who lives and breathes pickleball, consider setting up a ladder. They’re fun, competitive, and it gets your group mingling.
However, if you’re like us and you’re inviting everyone you know and love, you may want to organize something a little more casual. She rented five courts for her own mini open play so that everyone at every level could have court time.
It cost about $140 to rent five courts for two hours. Keep in mind, 30 people showed up, so there was plenty of time to play, mingle, and switch up teams throughout the party. If you plan on inviting all of your favorite people like we did, don’t forget to make sure you have enough paddles for everyone to play.
Only you know your crowd best, so pick the type of pickleball day you will have the most fun at!
Every great party starts with an invitation. Once you’ve ironed out the details of the when, where, and how, make your invite! Okay, okay, yes you can totally send a big group text, but who doesn’t love receiving a fun b-day invitation? We know we do.
pickleball birthday party decorations
Decorating for a pickleball birthday party doesn’t have to be an extravagant ordeal, but it should at least be fun!
For this party, we decorated a table with a lime green tablecloth, scattered pickleballs on the table around festive plates, snacks, and of course, the pickleball themed cake (made lovingly by our very own CFO!)
Like we said, decor can be minimal but fun!
- Tablecloth - dollar tree
- Pickleballs - Franklin pickleballs
- Silverware, plates, and napkins - target
- Cake - backhand beast Jess
- Cake Decor Disco balls - Amazon
- Cake Decor mini pickleball - Amazon
just have fun!
Your birthday is about celebrating you! Now go have fun and plan your pickleball birthday party.
